Strategy, the largest publicly traded corporate holder of bitcoin, bought 811 BTC for about $65.5 million between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1, 2026. The purchase raised its holdings to 849,327 BTC, representing more than 4% of bitcoin’s maximum supply.
The company disclosed the purchase in a Form 8-K filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Strategy paid an average of $80,846 per bitcoin.
Strategy has spent about $64.08 billion on its bitcoin holdings, including fees and related expenses, at an average price of $75,451 per coin.
Share sales and preferred-stock repurchases
Strategy funded the bitcoin purchase by issuing MSTR common stock through an at-the-market equity program. During the reporting period, the company sold 1,178,552 shares and generated about $164 million in net proceeds.
It allocated $65.5 million of those proceeds to bitcoin and added the remaining $98.5 million to cash available for corporate needs. Strategy retains capacity to sell about $18.62 billion of additional MSTR shares under the current program.
The company also repurchased 2,092,035 of its STRC preferred shares for $208.2 million, using funds from a separate USD Cash pool. It used another $43.4 million from its dollar reserve to pay preferred-share dividends.
As of Nov. 1, Strategy held $4.79 billion in its USD Reserve and $132.7 million in USD Cash, for a combined total of about $4.92 billion. The USD Reserve is intended primarily to service debt and pay dividends, while USD Cash may be used to buy bitcoin, repurchase securities and meet other corporate needs.
Quarterly results and earlier transactions
Before the latest disclosure, Strategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor published a chart of the company’s bitcoin purchases with the caption, “We found room for even more orange.” The acquisition followed a one-week pause in additions to the company’s reserves.
The filing came several days after Strategy released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026. The company reported net income of $19.53 billion, up from $2.79 billion a year earlier. A positive revaluation of digital assets was the main driver, generating about $20.9 billion in income.
Following the quarterly results, Saylor said bitcoin was at the beginning of a new bull cycle. He attributed that view to rising institutional demand, banks’ interest in bitcoin and the development of digital lending tools.
In late September 2026, Strategy bought 1,665 BTC for about $143 million, increasing its holdings at the time to 847,666 BTC.
The company also sold 3,328 BTC during July and August at an average price slightly above $64,000. Strategy CEO Phong Le later described those transactions as justified and said the company follows a two-way capital-management model that allows it to buy and sell crypto assets.
