Crypto exchange Bitget said in its transparency report for the third quarter of 2026 that total trading volume on its platform reached $1.86 trillion. The quarter brought increased activity across crypto derivatives, spot markets and traditional finance instruments, alongside expanded cross-asset trading capabilities.

Bitget said total monthly transaction volume rose 21.2% from July through September, accompanied by deeper liquidity across multiple asset classes.

Trading volumes and product expansion

Crypto derivatives trading volume increased 31.5% to $409.19 billion, according to the report. Spot trading volume rose 65.7%.

Trading volume in contracts for difference, or CFDs, grew 39.7% to $376.32 billion for the quarter. CFDs were the largest of Bitget’s non-crypto trading lines.

The exchange also launched a unified trading account with cross-margin support. The system aggregates more than 370 eligible assets, including over 100 tokenized U.S. stocks, with collateral valuation ratios of as much as 95%.

The update allows eligible tokenized securities to serve as collateral for various trading products, expanding users’ capital-management options, according to Bitget.

The company also added a GetAgent Playbook for tokenized U.S. stocks to its artificial intelligence-powered tools. Other changes included revised pricing terms for institutional clients and the launch of Cash Plus, a stablecoin-based yield product.

“We are seeing more and more traders move between cryptocurrencies, stocks, and traditional assets, and that is exactly why we are building a Universal Exchange,” Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said.

“The third quarter delivered strong growth, but it also reminded us that user protection must remain our top priority as the platform scales,” Chen added.

Liquidity metrics

Bitget cited independent studies of its liquidity. According to TokenInsight, the exchange ranked first among nine crypto exchanges for Bitcoin and Ethereum futures order-book depth within 0.05% of the market price. Aggregate liquidity under that measure totaled $41.6 million.

CoinGecko also placed Bitget among the leading trading platforms for bitcoin and Ethereum spot-market liquidity, according to the report.

Separate studies assessed liquidity in tokenized stocks. CryptoRank estimated that Bitget’s Reality product produced slippage on $50,000 orders that was as much as 58% lower than that of its closest competitor under the same measure.

DeFiLlama recorded a median bid-ask spread of 0.83 basis points between the best available buy and sell prices. According to the study, Bitget also had the greatest liquidity depth at the top level of the order book among the five markets assessed.

Security and User Protection Fund

The report detailed security measures taken after an incident on September 24, 2026. Bitget said it acted promptly to contain the impact and restore infrastructure operations, adding that user account balances were not affected.

The exchange hired Mandiant and SlowMist to conduct an independent investigation. On September 30, Bitget restored its User Protection Fund to more than $300 million, fulfilling its previously announced commitment ahead of schedule, according to the company.

Bitget also said it introduced an automatic shutdown mechanism for operations when certain risks are detected, completed an independent security assessment by SlowMist and increased its platform-protection budget. The company continued to maintain a reserve ratio above 110%.

Bitget said strengthening user-protection mechanisms remains a priority as it expands its presence in traditional financial instruments. The company’s full quarterly report is available here.
