Crypto exchange Bitpanda and Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) have expanded their strategic digital asset partnership. The companies plan to build group-wide infrastructure that will allow RBI’s subsidiary banks to integrate digital asset services across Central and Eastern European markets.

Bitpanda will provide the infrastructure through its business-to-business unit, Bitpanda Enterprise. The system is intended to enable RBI subsidiaries to offer digital asset services to customers in Central and Eastern European countries.

RBI’s regional network serves around 18 million customers. The companies said the rollout will be gradual, with specific services determined by the needs and regulatory requirements of individual jurisdictions.

RBI CEO Michael Höllerer said the bank is seeing growing demand for crypto assets in its markets and aims to address that demand with Bitpanda.

Partnership builds on Austrian model

Bitpanda and RBI first implemented the partnership model in Austria. In 2024, Raiffeisen Landesbank Niederösterreich-Wien became the first traditional bank in the European Union to give customers access to cryptocurrencies directly within its banking environment using Bitpanda’s technology.

The companies now plan to expand that approach from a single bank to group-wide infrastructure for RBI’s network in Central and Eastern Europe.

Bitpanda co-founder and co-CEO Christian Trummer said the Austrian project is developing into a partnership expected to provide millions of customers across the region with access to digital assets.

In August 2026, Bitpanda received its first fine in Austria for violating Markets in Crypto-Assets rules.
