Wyoming Launches State-Issued Stablecoin on Seven Blockchains

In a groundbreaking move, the state of Wyoming has unveiled its very own stablecoin, known as the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT). This initiative is noteworthy as it marks the first instance in the United States where a governmental body has launched a blockchain-based stablecoin. The FRNT stands out because it is backed by U.S. dollars alongside short-term treasury bonds—prioritizing security and reliability for all token holders.

Security and Trust at Its Core

The stability of Frontier Stable Token is ensured through its backing by trusted financial instruments like U.S. dollars and treasury bonds. All assets are safeguarded within a trust to serve the interests of token holders. Additionally, there is an over-collateralization of 2%, adding an extra layer of security.

Multi-Blockchain Deployment

The Commission rolled out the FRNT token across seven prominent networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Base, Avalanche, and Solana. This strategic deployment facilitates greater flexibility and access for users across different platforms within the burgeoning crypto ecosystem.

Collaborative Effort with Industry Leaders

The technological backbone supporting this ambitious project was developed through collaboration with notable entities such as LayerZero, Fireblocks, Franklin Advisers, Inca Digital, and The Network Firm.

A New Era for Digital Transactions

Governor Mark Gordon highlighted Wyoming’s pioneering role in blockchain technology by stating: “Wyoming has been at the forefront of blockchain innovation for years […] The launch of Frontier Stable Token provides our citizens and businesses with a contemporary tool for secure transactions in today’s digital age.”

Market Accessibility

In an effort to ensure easy acquisition of FRNT tokens, they will soon be available on Solana via Kraken exchange and on Avalanche through the Rain platform integrated with Visa.
This bold step not only reflects Wyoming’s ongoing commitment to advancing blockchain technology but also sets a precedent that could influence other states considering similar initiatives. By leveraging both traditional finance mechanisms and cutting-edge blockchain technology, Wyoming positions itself as a leader in fostering innovative solutions that blend security with modern-day transactional needs.
