Business Insider reported that the U.S. Marshals Service sold Anthropic stakes forfeited by former FTX executives Caroline Ellison and Nishad Singh to existing Anthropic investors. The report did not disclose the price paid for the stakes or identify every buyer.
What the court records establish
Separate federal court orders document Ellison’s and Singh’s forfeiture of their rights and interests in Anthropic-related investments. Those orders support the forfeiture claim; they do not themselves describe a completed sale, its timing, its buyers or its price. The sale details therefore remain attributed to Business Insider.
Valuation context is not a sale price
Anthropic announced in May 2026 that its Series H round valued the company at $965 billion post-money. That later company valuation provides context only and should not be treated as the valuation used for the government transaction or as evidence of proceeds available to FTX creditors.
