Strategy Acquires Bitcoin Worth $472.5 Million, Holding Over 601,000 BTC

In a remarkable move that underscores Strategy’s commitment to cryptocurrency investment, the firm recently expanded its Bitcoin reserves to a whopping total of over 601,550 BTC. This strategic acquisition involved purchasing an additional batch of 4,225 Bitcoins for a substantial sum of $472.5 million during the period from July 7 to July 13, 2025. These transactions were executed at an average price of $111,827 per coin.

Funding Through Strategic Stock Issuance

The capital required for this significant purchase was sourced through the issuance of common and preferred stock. Specifically, Strategy sold MSTR common shares amounting to $330.9 million and various types of perpetual preferred stocks—STRK, STRF, and STRD—totaling approximately $141.4 million.

A Massive Valuation with Promising Returns

As it stands today, Strategy’s Bitcoin portfolio boasts a valuation exceeding $73 billion. The average purchase price per coin is pegged at $71,268. Given the total expenditure on these acquisitions is around $42.9 billion when accounting for fees and expenses; this indicates an impressive unrealized profit hovering around the $30 billion mark.

An Ambitious “42/42” Program

This aggressive buying spree is part of Strategy’s ambitious “42/42” program aimed at amassing up to $84 billion by issuing stocks and convertible bonds by the year 2027—a plan that doubles their initial “21/21” strategy.
Michael Saylor, co-founder of Strategy, emphasizes that this approach is designed for long-term fortification of the company’s status as a leading corporate holder in the Bitcoin landscape.

Bullish Momentum Amidst Market Competition

During a brief pause in acquisitions from June 30 to July 6 due to their quarterly report release—which revealed unrealized digital asset income amounting to $14.05 billion—the company resumed its buying activities enthusiastically.
Saylor himself noted on social media: “In some weeks you need more than just ‘hodling’,” hinting at continued future purchases.
Despite rising competition among publicly traded companies like MARA, Twenty One Capital Riot Platforms Metaplanet—who recently added another batch of Bitcoins—Strategy remains unparalleled in terms of sheer volume held within reserves.
