OpenAI and more than 150 first-day signatories backed an open letter calling for an urgent, collective response to increasingly capable AI-enabled cyberattacks. The signatory list includes organizations across technology, cybersecurity, finance and other sectors; describing every signer as a company would be too narrow. The live list may change as additional organizations are approved.
Four groups are asked to act
The letter assigns work to every organization, cybersecurity companies and technology partners, governments, and frontier AI companies. Its proposals include raising security standards, expanding defensive AI access, sharing threat intelligence, funding critical-infrastructure defense and verifying that fixes work.
A call to action, not an incident report
The letter argues that defenders have a limited window to improve security before AI-enabled attacks become more widespread. It does not report that an OpenAI system went out of control, and it does not document a specific new breach. Its claims should be read as policy recommendations from the signatories.
