Monobank Co-Founder Considers Cryptocurrency Integration

In a recent interview with SPEKA, Mykhailo Rogalskyi, co-founder of monobank, discussed the potential advent of cryptocurrencies within their banking operations. He acknowledged that the integration of digital currencies in banks could be on the horizon. However, he also expressed skepticism regarding the rapid legalization of this sector in Ukraine. According to Rogalskyi, although discussions about cryptocurrency legalization have been ongoing for five years, significant barriers remain.

Challenges Facing Cryptocurrency Legalization in Ukraine

Rogalskyi pointed out that Ukraine currently operates under strict currency restrictions essential for its economic stability. The opening up of the cryptocurrency market might pose challenges for the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), potentially complicating monetary policy and capital movement oversight. While acknowledging these hurdles, he noted the oddity of a vast financial sphere lacking regulation and expressed hope for a legal framework to bring order.

Artificial Intelligence: Enhancing Customer Experience

Beyond cryptocurrencies, Rogalskyi shared insights into monobank’s cautious approach to implementing artificial intelligence (AI). The bank has developed an internal AI system named E.N.O.T., designed to assist technologically while maintaining a focus on human interaction. In routine scenarios, customer service is managed by live operators. Nevertheless, during peak times or technical issues, AI may step in temporarily to support operations.

Looking Ahead: Monobank’s Crypto Aspirations

Previously mentioned by co-founder Oleh Gorokhovskyi was monobank’s exploration into crypto-related projects and personal investment in crypto assets. This indicates an ongoing interest and commitment to exploring how digital currencies can be incorporated into mainstream banking operations.
With these developments underway at monobank, it’s clear that both AI and cryptocurrency are pivotal areas shaping modern banking landscapes. As these technologies evolve and regulatory frameworks become established globally and locally within Ukraine, banks like monobank are poised to adapt accordingly while keeping customer experience and regulatory compliance at their core.
Summing up these dynamic advancements in technology and finance underscores their transformative potential on traditional banking systems worldwide—ushering new opportunities while navigating associated challenges effectively.
