Malta Pioneers Free Access to ChatGPT Plus

In a groundbreaking move, Malta has partnered with OpenAI to offer its citizens free access to ChatGPT Plus for one year. This initiative, titled ‘Malta Provides Citizens Free Access to ChatGPT Plus’, is aimed at boosting digital literacy and AI understanding among residents. As part of the newly launched program, citizens must complete a government-endorsed training course focused on artificial intelligence (AI) principles.

A Strategic Partnership with OpenAI

This collaboration marks the first instance where a national government has formed such an agreement with an AI developer. The program is set to commence its initial phase in May 2026.
