Eliza Labs Faces Token Turmoil Amid Lawsuit Resolution

Shaw Walters, the founder of Eliza Labs, recently announced that the ELIZAOS token is essentially “dead” following a settlement over a class-action lawsuit initiated by Burwick Law. The case alleged improper management of the venture fund by Walters and his team, suggesting they misled investors about connections with prominent firm a16z.

The Background: From AI16Z to ELIZAOS

Launched in October 2024 under Solana’s network via DAOs.fun platform, the project initially went by ai16z. This name was inspired by Marc AIndreessen as an homage to a16z’s leadership. Soon after its inception, it was rebranded as ElizaOS. The project’s primary mission was crafting an AI-driven venture fund/DAO.
In November 2025, a migration occurred from AI16Z to ELIZAOS at a conversion rate of 1 to 6. At this stage, team members and investors obtained 40% of an impressive 11 billion tokens.

Legal Challenges: The Class-Action Lawsuit

The legal turmoil began in April 2026 when Burwick Law filed against Eliza Labs and its affiliates on behalf of Gorka Picabea. Accusations included misguiding investors and falsely creating affiliations with a16z. By June 2026, attempts were made to dismiss the case but ultimately led to private settlements due to financial constraints faced by Eliza Labs.

Walters’ Response: A Shift in Focus

Walters expressed regret over the situation but highlighted monetary limitations that led them towards settlement agreements instead of prolonged legal battles. Despite never selling his own shares or capitalizing on $25 million assets under control at one point; he focused solely on product development while living off savings.
He acknowledged internal conflicts within his team such as disputes leading up-to dismissals along-side employees exploiting company resources for personal ventures.

The Future Without Tokens

With no backing from funds anymore; buybacks have ceased alongside financial aid suspensions—emissions halted entirely—without plans for new tokenomics models moving forward either directly related or indirectly connected through different products developed under umbrella brand continuously operated independently away from any obligations towards current holders left holding onto existing assets until viable option either selling off completely or forming their own DAO emerges eventually someday hopefully soon enough before too late arrives unexpectedly catching everyone else unawares unaware altogether beforehand altogether probably sooner rather than later eventually happening inevitably someday soon hopefully better late than never indeed!
