Crypto exchange CoinEx announced an orderly wind-down that began on Sept. 15, 2026, citing a prolonged crypto-market downturn, declining trading volumes and liquidity, and rising regulatory and compliance requirements in key jurisdictions. Spot trading will end on Sept. 29, and the exchange will cease operations on Dec. 22, 2026, making timely withdrawals necessary for users seeking direct access to their assets.

CoinEx said it maintains an asset reserve ratio above 100% and that user assets are fully backed and will remain available for withdrawal.

Shutdown schedule

On Sept. 15, CoinEx stopped accepting new user registrations and halted referral commissions and reward payouts. It also placed futures markets in Reduce-Only mode, allowing users to close existing positions but not open new ones.

The exchange stopped accepting new orders or subscriptions for fiat services, margin trading, loans, Earn, staking and strategic trading on the same date.

CoinEx will discontinue all non-spot services on Sept. 22. It will also stop accepting onchain deposits that day, except for deposits of CoinEx Token, or CET, which will remain available until Sept. 29.

Spot trading will halt on Sept. 29. CoinEx will cease operations at 02:00 UTC on Dec. 22, 2026, after which withdrawals will no longer be available.

Treatment of user assets

CoinEx advised users not to wait until the final day to withdraw because blockchain networks could face congestion and delays. Users who want to receive assets in their original form must withdraw them by 02:00 UTC on Sept. 29.

From that time, CoinEx will process assets other than USDT according to the liquidity available on external markets. It will sell assets with external liquidity on outside trading venues, convert the proceeds into USDT at the net sale price and credit the USDT to users’ spot accounts.

If an asset has no liquidity on external markets, CoinEx will gradually delist it and end support for its corresponding wallet. The exchange advised holders of those assets to withdraw them to external onchain wallets by Sept. 29.

Futures, loans, Earn and staking

Futures services will close fully on Sept. 22. CoinEx will cancel open orders and force-settle any remaining positions at the index price.

The exchange has suspended new loans and extensions of existing loans since Sept. 15. Users must repay outstanding debt and manage collateral before the relevant services close. On Sept. 22, CoinEx will liquidate unpaid loans by selling the collateral, use the proceeds first to repay the debt and credit any remaining balance to the user’s account.

Earn and staking services will also end on Sept. 22. New subscriptions are already unavailable, while CoinEx will centrally redeem existing products and credit the principal and accrued interest to users’ spot accounts.

CET redemption and linked services

From Sept. 15 through Sept. 29, users can sell CET for 0.005 USDT per token. CoinEx said it will continuously place buy orders for the CET/USDT pair at that price and waive trading fees for the pair during the period.

After Sept. 29, the redemption window will close. CoinEx will automatically redeem CET balances in user accounts and credit the resulting USDT to spot accounts.

CoinEx Smart Chain and OneSwap will also be discontinued on Sept. 29. The cross-chain bridge will shut down at the same time as CoinEx Smart Chain.

Withdrawals and unclaimed funds

After withdrawals end on Dec. 22, 2026, CoinEx will transfer unwithdrawn USDT to independent custody. The exchange said users may apply for refunds through its official email, subject to renewed identity verification.

Refund applications will remain open until Aug. 22, 2028. After that date, unclaimed assets will be disposed of or transferred in accordance with applicable law.

CoinEx said CoinEx Wallet and CoinEx Vault are not included in the exchange shutdown. According to the company, the products operate independently of the exchange and will continue under their own terms of service.
