CEO Blum: 50% of Telegram Game Users Are New to the Crypto Sphere
The CEO of Blum, Gleb Kostarev, recently revealed that half of the users engaging with Telegram games are newcomers to the cryptocurrency industry. This announcement was made during the Korea Blockchain Week, where Kostarev highlighted the significant potential of Telegram in driving mass adoption of digital assets.
Kostarev pointed out that these new users had little to no prior interaction with the Web3 ecosystem or knowledge about crypto assets. However, their participation in so-called “clicker games” on Telegram has inadvertently introduced them to the world of cryptocurrencies.
Mass Adoption Through Telegram
“We have been waiting for mass adoption of digital assets for quite a while, and we have finally achieved it through Telegram,” stated Kostarev. He believes that understanding how to retain this newfound audience is crucial for the industry. These users might eventually migrate to crypto exchanges and other platforms, making it essential to keep them engaged and educated.
The former Binance executive stressed the importance of continued education for these newcomers. This is not only necessary for their retention and engagement but also to protect them from the increasing number of scams in the crypto space.
The Role of Education
“Education plays a key role here because it’s not enough to just bring a mass audience into crypto assets. We also need to understand what they will do there and how to protect them from fraudsters,” Kostarev explained.
He further emphasized that Telegram has the capability to significantly broaden user access to decentralized financial applications (DeFi). Currently, representatives of the DeFi sector face challenges due to the policies of corporations like Apple and Google regarding the placement of software in their online stores.
Addressing DeFi Challenges
Kostarev noted that 80% of users on centralized exchanges (CeFi) access platforms via smartphones. For the DeFi segment, this remains a major issue. He believes that Telegram can help overcome this hurdle and, in partnership with decentralized sector representatives, provide broader access to Web3.
In summary, the integration of Telegram games has introduced a significant number of new users to the cryptocurrency world. The next step for the industry is to educate and retain these users while addressing the challenges posed by corporate policies. This development underscores the potential of platforms like Telegram in advancing the adoption and accessibility of digital assets.
