BitMine’s Ambitious Expansion Plan for Ethereum Acquisition

BitMine Immersion Technologies, the world’s largest holder of corporate Ethereum reserves, is set to significantly increase its at-the-market (ATM) stock sale program by a staggering $20 billion. The funds raised from this initiative are earmarked primarily for acquiring more Ethereum, with additional investments directed towards Bitcoin and expanding mining and consulting operations.
The company’s filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) marks the third expansion within a month, showcasing BitMine’s aggressive approach to capitalizing on growing cryptocurrency opportunities. Initially, on July 9th, they brokered a deal with Cantor Fitzgerald and ThinkEquity for $2 billion in stock sales. By July 24th, this limit was raised to $4.5 billion. Now, BitMine aims to quintuple that amount.

Ethereum’s Market Potential

At present, BitMine holds more than 1.15 million ETH—valued at approximately $5 billion—securing their position as the first company to exceed one million tokens in their corporate treasury. Earlier this week, they announced an additional purchase of 317,000 ETH.
Tom Lee, BitMine’s Chairman and Fundstrat co-founder, sees parallels between Ethereum’s current trajectory and Bitcoin’s explosive growth phase in 2017. He attributes this optimism to three key factors: regulatory support for stablecoins; SEC signals indicating readiness to transition financial instruments onto blockchain; and growing interest from major players like JPMorgan and Robinhood in developing products on Ethereum.
Lee suggests that we might be witnessing the dawn of an “Ethereum MicroStrategy era.” If conditions remain favorable, he predicts that Ethereum’s price could soar beyond $30,000.

Other Significant Holders

According to The Block’s data insights post-BitMine’s announcement: SharpLink holds 598,800 ETH while The Ether Machine possesses 345,400 ETH. Meanwhile—the Ethereum Foundation retains control over232600ETH—and Coinbase maintains ownership of136800ETH alongside11776BTC.
