Understanding the New Crypto Cycle
In a recent address during Incrypted Conference 2026, Richard Teng, co-CEO of Binance, detailed why the current cryptocurrency cycle stands apart from previous ones. A significant factor is the extensive involvement of institutional investors, corporations, and sovereign funds. This large-scale participation marks a departure from past cycles and underscores strong foundational forces driving growth.
“We have never experienced a cycle with such large-scale involvement from institutional and corporate players,” Teng remarked, noting the robust optimism fueling future developments.
The Rise of Stablecoins, RWA, and AI Agents
Focusing on dominant narratives in this cycle, Teng highlighted three areas poised for rapid growth: stablecoins, tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), and AI agents. He emphasized that stablecoins and RWA have moved beyond their nascent stages into scaling phases.
“We’ve reached a turning point where it’s all about scaling and very rapid growth,” noted Teng. Following the passage of the GENIUS law in the U.S., there has been remarkable growth in stablecoins markets with tokenized real assets surpassing $25 billion. Meanwhile, AI agents continue to emerge as a burgeoning segment with compelling use cases.
Teng confidently predicted exponential growth for these sectors moving forward.
The Financial Super App Vision
To further its strategic objectives, Binance seeks to increase its global user base to 3 billion by promoting a financial super app concept. This application would integrate investments, savings, payments, and financial planning within one ecosystem.
“Our ambitious goal is three billion users. To achieve this ambition we need to be a super app meeting our users’ investment needs,” said Teng. While centralized solutions will evolve alongside decentralized options, regulated platforms are expected to be favored by institutional players due to AML compliance requirements.
AI’s Influence on Financial Management
Teng also underscored how artificial intelligence is reshaping approaches to budgeting, investing, saving, and trading. In response to this shift towards AI-driven methodologies in finance management at Binance actively develops proprietary AI tools for market analysis and digital asset management.
“Everything is being reimagined with AI agents,” he stated.
Spotlight on Ukraine’s Crypto Market
