Analyst Darkfost said more than $134 billion exited altcoins over the past 15 days, linking the decline largely to rapid profit-taking. He said the reversal indicates that altseason is fading fast, with the share of altcoins on Binance trading above their 200-day moving average, or 200-DMA, dropping from more than 90% to 51.6%.
Between late August and early October, the share of Binance-listed altcoins trading below the 200-DMA fell from 81% to less than 10%, according to data cited by Darkfost. Roughly nine out of 10 altcoins on the platform consequently entered a confirmed uptrend.
Darkfost said more than $814 billion flowed into altcoins during that period. The market later lost momentum, with 48.4% of altcoins on Binance falling back below the 200-DMA.
The analyst emphasized that altcoin performance and investor sentiment can change quickly. He also said periods of minimal interest in altcoins and weak market momentum may provide a reason to consider building a position.
Willy Woo sees no lower bitcoin bottom
