Japanese financial conglomerate SBI Group has become a strategic investor in Singapore-based payments company dtcpay, joining its Series A round through SBI Ventures Asset and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund. The investment brings the round’s total funding to $25 million and will support dtcpay’s efforts to scale its payment infrastructure and merchant network and enter new regulated markets.

Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India led the Series A round in April 2026. Genedant Capital and existing investor Kwee Liong Tek also joined the financing.

According to dtcpay, the capital will accelerate its international expansion and product development in the second half of 2026.

dtcpay expands stablecoin payment infrastructure

Founded by Alice Liu and Band Zhao, dtcpay is developing infrastructure that connects digital assets with traditional finance. Its services allow businesses and users to accept, store and transfer stablecoins.

The company’s exchange system supports settlement between stablecoins and fiat currencies. According to dtcpay, the system can reduce the delays and costs associated with cross-border transfers through SWIFT and correspondent banks.

dtcpay’s products include a point-of-sale stablecoin acceptance service and a WalletConnect integration covering more than 700 wallets. It also offers a Visa Infinite card that supports spending in fiat currencies and stablecoins at more than 150 million merchant locations.

The company has partnered with BNB Chain to develop real-world stablecoin use cases. In Singapore, dtcpay helped introduce stablecoin acceptance at retailer Metro and several hotels, including Capella Singapore.

dtcpay is also developing an updated business portal for enterprise clients and new app features. The company holds a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and an Electronic Money Institution license in Luxembourg.

SBI expands stablecoin presence

dtcpay’s founder and CEO said the company raised the funds not to support an already established business but to change the fundamentals of how money moves across borders. According to her, SBI Group’s backing confirms that regulated stablecoin payments “are not a distant vision, but infrastructure being built right now.”

SBI Ven Capital CEO Eiichiro So said the investment marks the beginning of a strategic partnership and should help establish a digital financial corridor between Japan and Southeast Asia.

The investment follows other digital-asset initiatives by SBI Group. In June 2026, SBI Group and Startale Group launched JPYSC, a stablecoin backed by the Japanese yen. SBI Shinsei Trust Bank is the issuer, while SBI VC Trade handles distribution.
