  • Bitdeer, a major US-based mining company, has sold over 1100 BTC, clearing its Bitcoin reserves entirely.

Bitdeer’s Strategic Shift: Liquidating Bitcoin Reserves

In a significant update from the cryptocurrency world, Bitdeer—one of the largest mining companies in the United States—has emptied its Bitcoin reserves by selling over 1100 BTC. This decision marks a pivotal shift in the company’s strategy, as detailed in their latest operational report.
As of February 20, 2026, Bitdeer produced 189.8 BTC and sold this entire volume alongside an additional sale of 943.1 BTC from existing reserves. Consequently, net corporate holdings have plummeted to zero.

Capital Raising and Business Restructuring

This move comes amid declining stock prices for Bitdeer. In response, the firm announced plans to raise $300 million through convertible senior notes due in 2032. The potential expansion could see an additional $45 million raised. The funds are earmarked for enhancing data center capabilities and advancing cloud solutions and mining equipment production.
Interestingly, while it’s uncommon for mining companies to completely liquidate reserves—typically holding some Bitcoin to benefit from price increases—this step reflects a calculated approach to finance operational costs like electricity and hardware.

Industry Trends: Diversification Post-2024 Halving

Founded by entrepreneur Jihan Wu, Bitdeer is not just focusing on increasing its mining output but also investing heavily in infrastructure for high-performance computing. This mirrors a broader industry trend where post-2024 halving sees players integrating mining with data center development and AI services.
Notably, Bitdeer is closing the gap with MARA in becoming one of the world’s largest public Bitcoin miners. By December 2025, its realized hash rate reached an impressive 55.2 EH/s.
In summary, Bitdeer’s strategic decisions highlight significant shifts within the crypto industry landscape as companies navigate through evolving market conditions while aiming for technological advancements and diversification into adjacent sectors like artificial intelligence services.
