Ethena Labs and Securitize Unveil Converge Blockchain

In an exciting development poised to revolutionize the cryptocurrency landscape, Ethena Labs and Securitize have announced their joint creation of the Converge blockchain. This innovative endeavor seeks to bridge traditional finance (TradFi) with decentralized finance (DeFi), offering compatibility with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) environments. The ambitious project is set to launch its mainnet in the second quarter of 2025.

A New Era of Institutional Engagement

Converge is designed as a specialized infrastructure aimed at simplifying access for institutional counterparties to DeFi and real-world tokenized assets (RWA). By doing so, it promises to attract substantial capital flows into crypto products, addressing current market gaps. Even as Total Value Locked (TVL) in the DeFi sector has surged beyond $100 billion, it remains modest compared to global capital markets. Ethena Labs emphasizes that there is still a lack of infrastructure specifically crafted to draw large pools of institutional capital into the crypto sphere.

Core Offerings and Strategic Role of Securitize

Within this novel ecosystem, Ethena Labs’s offerings will play a central role. The ENA token will function as a staking asset while stablecoins USDe and USDtb are set for gas payments. In parallel, Securitize plans to leverage Converge as an issuance layer for new RWA products, expanding its footprint in the digital asset space.

Technological Edge Through EVM Compatibility

The integration with Ethereum allows Converge users to deploy smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps), though only those on the “whitelist” will be enabled to ensure regulatory compliance. Moreover, EVM compatibility grants access to cross-chain liquidity, enhancing transactional flexibility.

Network Support and Future Prospects

As per developers’ insights, five protocols have already pledged support for Converge: Horizon, Pendle, Morpho Labs, Maple/Syrup.fi, and Ethereal. Custodial services will be provided by Anchorage, Copper, Fireblocks, Komainu, and Zodia. Furthermore, LayerZero, Wormhole, RedStone, and Pyth are also backing this initiative.
This groundbreaking collaboration between Ethena Labs and Securitize heralds significant advancements in integrating traditional financial systems with cutting-edge blockchain technology. As more details unfold leading up to its anticipated mainnet launch in Q2 2025, the industry eagerly awaits further technical documentation on what promises to be a transformative force in the realm of digital finance.
