Curve Finance launched its StableSwap protocol on the Stellar mainnet on October 29, 2026. The deployment marked the decentralized finance protocol’s first native integration outside the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem, giving users access to permissionless liquidity pool creation, asset swaps and liquidity provision.

StableSwap expands to Stellar

StableSwap is designed to exchange assets with closely correlated prices, including stablecoins pegged to the same currency, wrapped bitcoin and synthetic crypto assets. Its mechanism aims to execute those trades efficiently with minimal slippage.

Curve Finance founder Mikhail Egorov said demand from institutional market participants partly drove the decision to expand beyond EVM-compatible blockchains. According to Egorov, Stellar has much in common with the EVM ecosystem familiar to developers, while organizations have directly expressed interest in using Curve’s infrastructure on the network.

The integration also allows other DeFi applications to use Curve pools. Lending protocols will be able to use the pools to sell collateral during liquidations, while users will be able to exit positions. Those uses will require sufficient liquidity and integration with the relevant applications.

Issuers of tokenized assets will also be able to use Curve to create markets for their instruments on the Stellar network.

FXSwap planned after audit

Curve Finance plans to deploy its FXSwap protocol on Stellar after completing a security audit. Unlike StableSwap, FXSwap supports exchanges between assets whose prices move relative to one another, including volatile cryptocurrencies, foreign-exchange pairs and tokenized real-world assets.

The team has not disclosed a timetable for the FXSwap launch.

Stellar Development Foundation CEO Denelle Dixon said the real-world utility of stablecoins and tokenized assets depends on the ability to exchange them efficiently with one another. According to Dixon, Curve’s launch provides Stellar developers with infrastructure for building such markets.

Curve Finance has operated since 2020. In addition to decentralized trading, the project is developing lending products and its own stablecoin, crvUSD.

The protocol had about $1.27 billion in total value locked at the time of publication, according to DeFiLlama.

Curve Finance founder Mikhail Egorov previously criticized the Solana ecosystem, calling the pump.fun platform a “casino full of scams.”
