  • Standard Chartered Bank has revised its Bitcoin forecast for 2025, lowering it from $200,000 to $100,000.
  • The revision is due to reduced institutional demand and slower-than-expected adoption through ETFs.
  • The bank also adjusted its forecasts for subsequent years, affecting market expectations significantly.

Standard Chartered Experts Lower Bitcoin Forecast to $100,000 by 2025

In an unexpected shift, Standard Chartered Bank has revised its forecast for Bitcoin’s price in 2025. The bank now predicts that the cryptocurrency will reach $100,000 instead of the previously anticipated $200,000. This adjustment reflects a change in market dynamics and institutional interest. For further details on this development, you can refer to their report on Decrypt.

Factors Influencing the Revision

The updated forecast stems primarily from a reevaluation of institutional demand for Bitcoin. Analyst Geoffrey Kendrick from Standard Chartered pointed out that aggressive purchases by treasury firms have waned. Furthermore, the adoption of Bitcoin through exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is progressing slower than expected. ETFs are seen as a major influence on the asset’s pricing; however, capital inflows into these funds have slowed down significantly due to macroeconomic factors.

The Broader Implications for the Crypto Market

The bank’s report highlights that inflows reached only 50,000 BTC in Q4 2025—markedly lower than previous quarters since the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs. In comparison, Q4 2024 saw inflows amounting to 450,000 BTC when including purchases by treasury companies.
Due to these changing conditions, Standard Chartered has adjusted its forecasts not just for 2025 but also for subsequent years:

  • For 2026: From $300,000 down to $150,000.
  • For 2027: From $400,000 down to $225,000.
  • For 2028: From $500,000 down to $300,000.

Accordingly, reaching the ambitious target of $500,000 will likely be delayed until at least 2030.

A Shift in Perspective on Cryptocurrency Cycles

Despite these downward revisions in price targets across several years ahead—reflective of changing investment patterns—Kendrick believes that traditional four-year cycles are no longer applicable to Bitcoin. He states confidently that “crypto winters are a thing of the past,” suggesting new patterns may emerge as digital currencies mature.
This sentiment is echoed by other industry figures such as BitMine’s CEO who also lowered his expectations for Bitcoin prices come 2025—to around or slightly above this newly proposed level at about USD$100k mark.
These insights collectively underscore significant transformations underway within global cryptocurrency markets today—highlighting both challenges faced amid evolving demand dynamics alongside opportunities presented via innovative technological advancements impacting financial landscapes worldwide!
