Bitcoin ETPs Achieve a Remarkable Milestone

In a monumental development, Bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) have crossed a significant threshold. They now hold more than 1 million Bitcoin, amounting to a staggering $74 billion in assets under management (AUM). This remarkable accumulation of Bitcoin, the world’s preeminent cryptocurrency, represents over 5% of its circulating supply, which stands at around 19.7 million Bitcoin.

The Peak of Bitcoin ETPs

In the middle of March, these Bitcoin-centric investment vehicles reached their zenith, with 1.1 million Bitcoin in their possession. This impressive figure equated to an AUM of approximately $76 billion. It is a testament to the growing interest and faith in Bitcoin as an asset class that can deliver substantial returns.

Leading the Pack: The ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF

Among the various Bitcoin ETPs, the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) has distinguished itself. It currently holds around 43,400 Bitcoin, translating to $3 billion in AUM. Since the launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs in January, BITO has been witnessing a steady inflow of investments month after month, showcasing its growing appeal among investors.

A Snapshot of Bitcoin ETP Performance

Several Bitcoin ETPs have been performing remarkably well. The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), despite a reduction in Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, still commands a notable $23.6 billion in AUM. The iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) saw positive growth in Bitcoin holdings and boasts an AUM of $17.83 billion.

The Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin (FBTC) also posted positive growth in Bitcoin holdings, with an AUM of $10.24 billion. The ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) and Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) both saw an increase in Bitcoin holdings, with AUMs of $3.16 billion and $2.242 billion, respectively.

Conclusion

The current growth trend of Bitcoin ETPs is a clear indication of the increasing acceptance of Bitcoin as a viable investment. With more than 5% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply now held in ETPs, it’s evident that the traditional finance sector is increasingly embracing the potential of this digital asset. As the crypto market continues to evolve, we can anticipate more milestones being achieved, further cementing Bitcoin’s position in the global financial landscape. source
