Chinese Developer Tokenizes Debt and Launches RWA Platform

The world of cryptocurrency is abuzz with news from China as Seazen Group Ltd, one of the country’s largest developers, announces its ambitious plans to release a tokenized private debt offering by year-end. This pioneering move marks Seazen as a trailblazer in China’s real estate sector for embracing digital assets.
As reported by Bloomberg, CEO Wang Xiaosong stated that over its 32-year history, Seazen has accumulated significant capital reserves and conducted preliminary research into real assets. The company’s strategic shift aligns with Hong Kong’s governmental push for innovation in asset tokenization.

A New Era for Digital Assets

Seazen’s venture into tokenization represents a significant leap forward in the digital asset domain. Wang Yifeng, Vice Chairman of Seazen Digital Assets Institute, highlighted the firm’s initial focus on financial asset tokenization. He mentioned that this initiative includes both private and convertible bonds within the realm of Real World Assets (RWA).
Negotiations with investors are reportedly underway for this inaugural offering. The aim is clear: launch before year’s end, leveraging lower costs and wider investor accessibility compared to traditional debt instruments.

Expanding Horizons: Tokenizing Real Estate

Beyond financial assets, Seazen plans to tokenize its Wuyue Plaza shopping centers while releasing NFTs tied to their brand network. Moreover, the development of an RWA trading platform is on the cards. This strategic move positions Seazen favorably within an expanding market that shows no signs of slowing down.
The burgeoning landscape of tokenized assets has already surpassed $270 billion in managed assets within RWA segments alone, according to Token Terminal data. Significant players like Tether have introduced platforms such as Hadron for furthering tokenization efforts.

The Global Context

Notably, CME Group has partnered with Google Cloud to test solutions for RWAs while Dubai sees active projects in real estate tokenization. These developments underscore the global momentum toward embracing digital transformations within private markets.
Alex Svanevik from Nansen underscored this trend by highlighting how “the revolution in tokenization is happening precisely in private markets.” For companies like Seazen, RWAs present new opportunities for capital attraction and democratizing finance.
Seazen’s initiative not only underscores its leadership but also signifies how private entities are recognizing untapped potential within RWAs—a testament to this transformative period in financial technology advancements globally.
This bold step forward exemplifies how traditional industries can merge seamlessly with cutting-edge technology—providing innovative solutions that reshape both local and international economic landscapes alike.
