With the recent cryptocurrency market crash, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are struggling to find buyer support. Despite a slight recovery, both cryptocurrencies are still down significantly compared to their recent highs. Other cryptocurrencies are also experiencing similar trends, with Binance Coin (BNB), Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP) and Cardano (ADA) all in the red.
Bitcoin fell below $60,000 on March 29, with the price dropping to around $58,000. The crypto king has been under pressure since the start of the year, with the price fluctuating between $40,000 and $60,000. Bitcoin’s market dominance has been decreasing, indicating that altcoins are gaining momentum. Currently, Bitcoin’s market dominance is around 40%.
Ethereum, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, is also struggling. After reaching an all-time high of $4,868 in November 2021, ETH has been in a steady downtrend, falling below $3,000. It is currently trading around $2,800. Despite the ongoing bear market, Ethereum’s blockchain continues to be the most actively used, hosting a plethora of DeFi and NFT projects.
Binance Coin (BNB), the third-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, has also seen a significant price drop. After reaching a high of $690 in May 2021, BNB plunged to $380, losing nearly half of its value. The decline can be attributed to the overall market downturn and regulatory issues faced by Binance.
Solana (SOL) and Ripple (XRP) are not spared either. SOL, one of the fastest-growing cryptocurrencies of 2021, has been on a downward spiral since December, with the price dropping from $250 to $120. Ripple, on the other hand, has been grappling with a lawsuit from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which has negatively impacted its price.
Cardano (ADA), once hailed as the ‘Ethereum killer,’ has been one of the worst performers in this market crash. From its all-time high of $3.10 in September 2021, ADA has plummeted to $1, losing more than 60% of its value. Despite this, Cardano’s blockchain continues to grow, with more developers building on its platform.
The current cryptocurrency market downturn underscores the volatile nature of digital assets. While some investors see this as an opportunity to buy the dip, others are bracing for further declines. As always, it is crucial for investors to do their own research and understand the risks involved in crypto investing.
