  • Transaction fees on the Solana blockchain have reached a low not seen since October 2024, marking an 84% decrease from their peak in January 2025.
  • The launch of meme coins TRUMP and MELANIA led to a temporary spike in fees, which have since declined significantly.
  • Token distribution on the pump.fun platform to the Raydium exchange has halved from its peak levels.

Solana’s Weekly Transaction Fees Hit New Lows

The recent data reveals that Solana’s weekly transaction fees have plummeted to their lowest point since October 2024. This sharp decline of 84% from the historical high of January 2025 is noteworthy for investors and stakeholders following Solana’s progress.
During the week ending March 10, 2025, transaction fees amounted to just 58,580 SOL—an unprecedented low since late last year. Notably, financial operation fees constituted a significant portion of these transactions as users aimed for priority processing.

Impact of Meme Coin Launches

Earlier this year, the launch of meme coins TRUMP and MELANIA caused a brief surge in transaction fees. However, post-launch data from Dune Analytics shows a steep decline in validator tips and active addresses on the network. Validator Jito’s “tips” dropped considerably from $62,000 daily during TRUMP’s launch week to an average of $11,300 daily.

Changes in Token Distribution and Active Addresses

In addition to falling transaction fees, there has been a noticeable reduction in token releases from pump.fun onto the Raydium exchange. The average percentage of tokens distributed daily fell from January highs by nearly half. This drop is significant given pump.fun’s large-scale token generation.
The seven-day average number of active addresses also saw a downturn by 35%, indicating reduced network engagement.

Market Reaction and Broader Implications

These shifts have impacted Solana’s market performance. The cryptocurrency is currently trading at $124 according to TradingView. Factors contributing to price changes include unlocking ecosystem tokens and decreased Total Value Locked (TVL) within the network.
According to The Block, capital outflows amounted to $485 million with a dramatic drop in meme coin volumes on pump.fun during February.
While it remains uncertain if Solana will regain its former activity levels seen during TRUMP coin’s launch, these developments highlight ongoing volatility within the crypto market landscape.
