10x Research Predicts Bitcoin to Hit $100K by 2025

  • Bitcoin predicted to reach $100,000 by January 2025, according to 10x Research.
  • The prediction is based on historical data and the “black hole effect” of Bitcoin dominance.
  • Increased institutional interest, including from companies like BlackRock, is noted.
  • Potential regulatory changes could make Bitcoin more attractive for corporate investment.
  • Ethereum’s growth is seen as less promising, with concerns over staking returns and user activity.

Bitcoin’s Path to $100,000
In a bold prediction by 10x Research, Bitcoin is expected to reach the $100,000 mark by January 2025. This forecast is grounded in historical data, showing that Bitcoin tends to yield an average return of 40% within three months after reaching a new six-month high. This growth trajectory suggests Bitcoin could surpass $101,000 in early 2025.
Analysts highlight the “black hole effect,” where Bitcoin’s dominance draws liquidity away from altcoins. As Bitcoin strengthens, other cryptocurrencies tend to weaken. This shift in perception also sees Bitcoin being viewed as “digital gold” — a stable, long-term asset favored by institutional investors like BlackRock.
Institutional Interest and Regulatory Developments
10x Research notes a significant inflow into spot Bitcoin ETFs, with $4.1 billion recorded in October 2024. Additionally, a potential Donald Trump victory in the upcoming U.S. elections is seen as a positive signal for Bitcoin.
Another crucial factor is the anticipated changes in accounting rules, which could allow companies to report their crypto assets at market value. This change would remove the need to write down the value of their crypto holdings during price drops, making Bitcoin a more appealing corporate asset.
Ethereum’s Challenges and Outlook
While Bitcoin’s future looks promising, 10x Research offers a more cautious outlook for Ethereum. Despite Bitcoin’s rise, Ethereum has yet to reach its previous peak from 2021. One reason cited is the lower staking yield of Ethereum compared to U.S. two-year government bonds.
Experts also observe a stabilization in the number of daily active users and developer activity on the Ethereum network, casting doubt on its long-term potential. While Ethereum might experience short-term gains, significant innovations are needed to sustain its growth.
In essence, while Bitcoin is poised for potential growth driven by historical trends and increasing institutional interest, Ethereum faces challenges that may hinder its long-term prospects. The evolving crypto landscape offers opportunities and hurdles, with market dynamics and regulatory developments playing pivotal roles in shaping the future of these digital assets.
