With a surge in market capitalization and favorable investment conditions in certain jurisdictions, the report underscores the dynamic growth and evolving regulatory environment of the crypto market.

Key Findings from the Crypto Wealth Report 2024

According to the report, there are now 172,300 individuals globally holding crypto assets worth over $1 million. This figure represents a remarkable 95% increase from the previous year. Notably, the number of bitcoin investors alone has grown by 111%, reaching 85,400 millionaires.
Experts at Henley & Partners also identified 325 investors with cryptocurrency holdings exceeding $100 million. Additionally, the world has seen the emergence of six new crypto billionaires, five of whom have amassed their wealth primarily through bitcoin.

Market Capitalization and Institutional Investment

The total market capitalization of the crypto sector has surged by 89%, climbing from $1.2 trillion to $2.3 trillion over the past year. Dominik Volek, Head of Private Clients at Henley & Partners, attributes this rapid growth to the introduction of cryptocurrency ETFs on major financial markets, leading to a significant influx of institutional capital.
“The launch of spot ETFs based on bitcoin and Ethereum, along with the anticipation of potential Solana-ETF approval, has initiated a new era of crypto adoption. Digital assets are increasingly intertwined with traditional finance and global mobility,” remarked Volek.

Top Jurisdictions for Crypto Investment

The report identifies Singapore, Hong Kong, and the UAE as the top jurisdictions offering the most favorable conditions for crypto investments. Singapore maintains its position as the leading “crypto hub” due to its transparent regulatory framework and advanced infrastructure. Hong Kong follows closely with its robust economy, while the UAE ranks third, benefiting from favorable tax policies.
Dominik Volek observed that as the lines between traditional and digital finance continue to blur, the synergy between cryptocurrencies and migration is becoming more pronounced:
“Crypto millionaires of 2024 are not content with just digital wealth. They seek freedom and mobility that match their extensive assets.”

Growing Interest in Crypto-Friendly Residencies

Henley & Partners’ experts have noted a significant rise in the number of crypto investors looking for alternative residency and citizenship options in 2024. These investors are increasingly seeking to become residents of jurisdictions with a supportive climate for digital currencies.
In 2023, Singapore also led the way in global crypto adoption, with Switzerland and the UAE rounding out the top three countries.
The *Crypto Wealth Report 2024* provides valuable insights into the evolving landscape of cryptocurrency investment and the increasing importance of regulatory environments in shaping the future of digital assets. As the market continues to grow and mature, the integration of cryptocurrencies into traditional finance and the global economy is likely to accelerate, offering new opportunities and challenges for investors worldwide.
