Maelstrom Fund Launches Bitcoin Developer Grant Program

The Maelstrom Fund, established by Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has officially announced the launch of a new grant program for Bitcoin developers. This initiative aims to foster further development within the Bitcoin network, focusing on improving resilience, scalability, and privacy features.

According to the press release, the program’s primary objective is to incentivize significant advancements in the Bitcoin ecosystem. Developers can apply for grants ranging from $50,000 to $150,000, with potential increases up to $250,000. These grants will be distributed over a 12-month period.

Funding Distribution and Application Process

The grant funds will be allocated in Bitcoin, as well as stablecoins such as Circle’s USDC and Tether’s USDT. Distribution of these funds is scheduled for the third or fourth quarter of 2024. Interested candidates must submit their applications to Maelstrom by August 25.
In addition, all applicants are required to undergo at least one interview as part of the evaluation process. The grant selection committee includes Arthur Hayes and program administrator Jonathan Beer.
