Market Overview

On July 2, 2024, the spot Bitcoin ETF segment experienced a net outflow of $13.6 million, according to data from SoSo Value. This marked a notable shift in the cryptocurrency market, with five crypto funds ending the trading day with neither inflows nor outflows.

Grayscale Leads Outflows

The Grayscale Investments’ converted ETF, GBTC, emerged as the leader in capital outflow, losing over $32 million. This significant withdrawal pushed the assets under management (AUM) of GBTC below $17 billion. Since the launch of this asset class in January 2024, Grayscale’s spot Bitcoin ETF has cumulatively lost $18.5 billion.

Other Notable Movements

Bitwise Asset Management’s ETF, trading under the ticker BITB, also saw considerable outflows, amounting to $6.8 million. Despite this, BITB maintains an AUM of $2.36 billion. In contrast, four investment products in this segment concluded the previous trading day in the green.

BlackRock’s Positive Performance

BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, recorded a substantial inflow of $14 million, solidifying its leading position with an AUM exceeding $19 billion. This inflow further widened the gap between BlackRock and Grayscale’s ETFs, now standing at over $2 billion.

Previous Day’s Performance

It’s worth noting that on July 1, 2024, spot Bitcoin ETFs exhibited a net inflow of $129.5 million. The Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) led this positive movement, securing $65 million in inflows. This indicates a highly dynamic and volatile market, with significant fluctuations in investor sentiment and fund performance.
This development highlights the ever-changing nature of the cryptocurrency market and underscores the importance of staying updated with the latest trends and movements. The substantial outflows and inflows observed in these ETFs reflect broader market sentiments and the ongoing evolution of digital asset investments.
