  • The firm linked ZEC’s potential for further gains to rising demand for financial privacy as digital payments and AI-powered data analytics expand.
  • According to Grayscale, Zcash’s market capitalization has risen from about 0.1% of Bitcoin’s a year ago to around 1.5% now.

In its report, Grayscale said Zcash traded at roughly $60 a year ago, when its market capitalization was about 0.1% of Bitcoin’s. ZEC now trades at about $1,500, while the capitalization ratio has reached around 1.5%.

Privacy demand

Grayscale considers Zcash’s ability to conduct shielded transactions using zero-knowledge proofs one of the network’s key advantages. As of July 2026, shielded transactions accounted for about 90% of transactions on the network.

Grayscale experts expect demand for financial privacy to grow amid the expansion of digital payments and AI-powered data analytics tools. The firm said Bitcoin nevertheless remains the dominant asset in the digital currency sector.

Grayscale illustrated the change in Zcash’s market capitalization relative to Bitcoin’s in data published with its research.

ZEC rally and investment products

ZEC previously posted a sharp rally. The asset reached about $1,400 in September after gaining more than 2,500% over the year.

Growing interest in Zcash also coincided with the development of investment products. In August, Grayscale launched the first spot ZEC-based exchange-traded fund under the ticker ZCSH.

Zcash mining profitability also increased amid ZEC’s rise. According to Grayscale estimates, profitability per megawatt-hour was about four times the comparable Bitcoin figure.
