Polygon Labs Allocates 35 Million MATIC for Ecosystem Projects

Polygon Labs has taken a significant step in fostering its blockchain ecosystem by announcing the establishment of a Community Treasury. This initiative aims to finance projects on Polygon and Ethereum blockchains, with a total of 1 billion POL tokens earmarked for distribution over the next decade.

In-Depth Look at the Community Treasury

Over the span of ten years, the Community Treasury will reward developers with POL tokens. Each year, 100 million POL tokens will be allocated to various projects within the ecosystem. For the first season of the grants program, 35 million MATIC tokens will be distributed amongst participating teams. Subsequently, all rewards will be disbursed in POL tokens.

How to Participate

According to the official announcement, projects must operate on Polygon or be ready to migrate to this network to qualify for the program. The average time for application review is approximately four weeks. Teams can apply for funding amounts ranging between 5000 MATIC and 50,000 MATIC.

Commitment to Developer Success

Polygon Labs emphasizes the importance of developers in their network’s success, highlighting their contributions through hackathons, accelerators, and global meetings. The team recognizes that these efforts have been pivotal in the continuous development of the Polygon blockchain.

Application and Evaluation Process

Applications for the grant program opened on June 11, 2024, and will close on August 31, 2024. Each month, the treasury council will review and select the best projects for further support, with grant payouts scheduled for the first day of every month.

Previous Success Stories

Polygon Labs has a history of successful grant distributions. For instance, in 2021, the decentralized exchange QuickSwap received $1 million in funding. Other supported projects include Intraverse, Jokerace, and Keom.

Security and Future Developments

In April 2024, Polygon Labs achieved ISO 27001 certification, a “gold standard” in information security. Additionally, co-founder Sandeep Nailwal has announced the release of new products, further contributing to the network’s growth and security.
Polygon Labs’ strategic investment in the Community Treasury underscores its commitment to ecosystem development and innovation. This initiative is poised to drive significant advancements in the blockchain space, benefiting developers and the broader crypto market.
