Memecoin launch platform pump.fun introduced Custom Pairs on Sept. 9, 2026, expanding the assets available for Solana token launches. The feature matters because it allows users to create tokens pegged to tokenized stocks, major cryptocurrencies, metals and other assets, while directing half of its revenue to PUMP buybacks and burns.

The tool launched in partnership with Sunrise and added 20 trading pairs, bringing the total number of pairs available from Sunrise and xStocks to 93. pump.fun said it plans to add more assets in the future.

Custom Pair launches and fees

Users can create a token by selecting its name, image, ticker and base pair. pump.fun said Custom Pairs are intended to provide greater asset variety, deeper liquidity and lower fees than other platforms.

Custom Pairs use the same Bonding Curve and PumpSwap protocol fees as standard token launches. Creators can set a creator fee of between 0.05% and 1%, or launch a token using a cashback format.

For cashback tokens, the fee is 0.3% on the Bonding Curve and 0.05% after the token migrates off it. Fees are paid in the pair’s base token. For example, rewards for a token paired with NVDA would be paid in NVDA.

Creators may divide their fee among as many as 10 recipients. The configuration becomes locked once the recipients and their shares are set, although it can be updated once if the token administrator changes through a CTO.

The selection of a Custom Pair is final for an existing token and cannot be changed after launch. New tokens can also be transferred to another administrator through a CTO, with no additional transfer tax for Custom Pairs.

Half of revenue allocated to PUMP

pump.fun said 50% of all Custom Pairs revenue will be sent to a smart contract for the programmatic buyback and burn of PUMP tokens, continuing the platform’s previous supply-reduction strategy.

In April 2026, the pump.fun team burned all previously repurchased PUMP, which was worth about $370 million. The burn reduced the token’s circulating supply by 36%.

The additional revenue stream follows a decline in activity earlier in 2026. According to Blockworks data, pump.fun’s daily revenue fell more than 70% from $1.54 million in January to $457,822 as of June 7.

The platform’s metrics rebounded in July, when pump.fun generated about $1.21 million in revenue in one day, exceeding TRON and Hyperliquid by that measure. Daily revenue also exceeded $1 million on Sept. 8 and reached a peak of more than $2 million on Aug. 27.
