Cronos resumed network operations after a Tectonic-related exploit prompted validators to halt the chain and coordinate a rollback. Cronos said it restored the chain state to before the exploit and restarted the network from block time 23:49:01 UTC.
Rollback and restart replaced the earlier halt
The first Cronos notice described a temporary pause while validators investigated abnormal activity. A later official update confirmed the restart after the pre-exploit state was restored. Any account describing an ongoing halt became outdated once that restart notice was published.
Loss estimates remain unconfirmed
Tectonic warned users not to interact with the protocol while it investigated. Independent researchers published preliminary onchain estimates, but the available official notices do not confirm a final loss amount or a final allocation of assets across chains. Tectonic has not confirmed a final loss, so figures such as $75 million or $60 million should not be stated as settled facts.
Users should rely on current Cronos and Tectonic status channels before interacting with affected contracts.
