Ambitious Plans for Digital Transformation

In a bold move set to reshape the cryptocurrency landscape, South Korea’s Mirae Asset Financial Group has unveiled plans to expand its digital asset business through the crypto exchange Digital X. With an ambitious target of building a $109 billion enterprise on this platform, Mirae Asset is positioning itself at the forefront of crypto innovation.
During a recent meeting in Seoul, founder and chairman Park Hyeon-joo detailed this vision, emphasizing that digital assets are integral to the group’s strategic evolution under Mirae Asset 3.0. After acquiring a majority stake in Korbit—now rebranded as Digital X—in July 2026, Mirae Asset is committed to leveraging its substantial client base of approximately 1,500 trillion won for this groundbreaking venture.

Strategic Focus Areas

Digital X is set to target four pivotal areas within the cryptocurrency domain: cryptocurrencies themselves, stablecoins that offer price stability, the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA), and security tokens (STO) which represent ownership in tangible investments. This strategic focus underscores Mirae Asset’s intent not only to adapt but also lead in these innovative sectors.
Moreover, preparations are underway for tokenizing physical commodities like gold and silver as well as energy resources. These efforts aim to cultivate an advanced on-chain financial ecosystem capable of integrating both traditional and digital assets seamlessly.

Investment and Profitability Goals

Mirae Asset projects that these initiatives will reach profitability by 2027. To support this growth trajectory, the group may channel up to 300 billion won in additional capital investments. Furthermore, they are contemplating a private equity placement worth between 200 billion and 300 billion won by early next year if profit margins grow as expected.

Innovating Financial Products

Beyond scaling current offerings, Digital X plans to introduce novel financial products based on digital assets while pursuing direct investment opportunities. This approach aligns with their long-term ambition: establishing a global platform where traditional finance intersects with cutting-edge technology under one unified system led by Digital X.
These developments signal an exciting chapter for both Mirae Asset and broader crypto markets as they pave new pathways towards integration and growth within this dynamic industry.
